ebst online's first titles are in maths, engineering and plumbing. Access them from the left hand navigation. We start with a major series of video documentaries and video maths tutorials on Maths for Engineers. Produced in collaboration with the University of Leeds, Maths for Engineers is ideal support for first year university study, but some parts will be relevant for school or workplace training too.
Try Maths for Engineers Part 1 for size!
Part 1 gives you three documentaries and five tutorials (the tutorials can be streamed for free as well as purchased as downloads), that's over two hours of video on Simple Harmonics. And there are four more topics to chose from.
What can a blade of grass teach us in designing tall buildings? What's the similarity between archery and landing a plane on an aircraft carrier? How does a car navigate a bend at speed? You will find some interesting answers to questions like these and a new way to look at maths that explains what is going on.
Engineering and Vocational Skills
There’s more for those with an interest in engineering with the Shotlist series Crafts into Engineering showing how traditional skills link with automated techniques. These videos are deliberately free of commentary, except from the craftsmen and women at work, as are the Skillbank videos on Plumbing, which demonstrate bending and jointing of copper tube. The Shotlist and Skillbank catalogues were developed by consortiums of universities and colleges, collaborating with EBST to produce video resources for their students and to support academic and vocational studies.
More vocational titles to come!
The Interpersonal Skills series called The Office will be available in the Winter/Spring 2008. This will see the welcome return of the very popular The Minutes of the Meeting programme. Skillbank vocational programmes show close-up tradespeople and professionals at work.
Biology/Psychology titles to come
Shotlist observations of laboratory techniques, studies of clinical biochemistry, the human brain, the physiology, psychology and management of pain will also be arriving Winter/Spring 2008.
