Step 1: search
ebst online may be searched via:
- navigation panel on the left hand side,
- search function near the top, and
- tags on the right.
The navigation panel will expand to show new content areas and specialisms as the site grows (content will be regularly added in batches as it becomes digitised and optimised). A click on one of the parent topics, for instance, ‘Maths’ results in a drop-down menu appearing beneath it. A click on any of these sub-menu items will reveal all relevent titles/clips available in the centre of the screen.
The search button allows you to place a key word or phrase in the space beside it and the whole site is searched. This means that not only is the video content searched but all the support and surrounding texts, and other information pages too.
The tags system searches only the video content. Tags used to be hidden in the code but they make such a useful search mechanism that it is sensible to show them. Each clip or programme has a list of associated key words, called tags, attached to it which are live. So, for instance, if you click on the tag ‘vectors’ from the tag list on the right of the home page, all clips with the same tag appear in the middle of the screen for you to preview, watch or download.
Because each clip has its own string of tags, if your first choice doesn’t quite get you the result you wanted, then you can click on any of the other tags that appear alongside to get a different collection of clips.
To get straight to the content, tags can be the most efficient search method.
Step 2: Preview
Previews (15 - 30 seconds approx of streamed video) give you a flavour of programmes which you may then purchase as a download or as part of a DVD. Beneath the DVD detail will be a list of all the sections of that DVD which can be previewed/downloaded separately, if the whole DVD is unnecessary. Some tutorial programmes may be streamed for free.
Step 3: Buy
Clicking the buy button will take you to your shopping basket, where you can continue shopping, selections can be removed, or you can check-out. Checking out takes you to the secure payments page administered by PayPal. We do not store your details. If you are buying a DVD, you will be able to put in your delivery address here.
Step 4: Download
After you have paid for your download using PayPal click return to EBST online and you will see, in your receipt, the link to download. If you choose not to download immediately, you can get to it at any time within 30 days by clicking on My Account, clicking on the view button next to your order summary and the download button will appear beneath your receipt. Once you've clicked the download button a dialogue box opens inviting you to save your purchases to your chosen folder. You might wish to rename the file at this stage.
Once saved, you will not be asked to pay again. The clips do not ‘expire’ and you are not given a finite time to use them. They will be useable for as long as the format they are made in is supported. Any conversion is at your own discretion.
We recommend therefore that you back-up your purchased material so that it is not lost in future to systems or hardware failure. If you need to replace lost materials that haven’t been backed up, then you will need to purchase them again.
